Time to Confirm Kavanaugh

An estimated 20 million Americans tuned in on Thursday, September 27th to watch Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee, and after roughly 9 hours of testimony, the only thing abundantly clear was that the Democrats had no interest in the truth. Despite what you may hear on the news or read online, there is not a single credible allegation made against Kavanaugh, and furthermore, there is zero evidence to support any claims of impropriety made against him. It was apparent from the first day of his nomination that the Senate Democrats would fight this tooth and nail, and while they did not disappoint their base, they have disappointed the country.

“I will oppose Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination with everything I have.”

  • Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, just minutes after Kavanaugh’s nomination.

This man is a loving husband and father who has been subject to some of the worst abuse imaginable for a man. After expressing that coaching his daughters’ basketball teams was one of the greatest joys of his life, a USA Today staffer took it upon himself to imply that Kavanaugh was a pedophile, insisting “he should stay off the basketball courts for now when kids are around.” The article was met with such fierce resistance that it was quickly taken down, and the writer has not posted online since.

For the last 12 years, Kavanaugh has honorably served as a U.S. Circuit Court Judge, passing 6 separate FBI investigations, and was confirmed by the Senate in 2006 by a 57-36 vote.

ALLEGATIONS

The allegations Ford has made against Judge Kavanaugh are as flimsy as they come. “She told her truth,” as said Sen. Cory Booker stated, but “her truth” is not the same as the truth. As independent investigator Rachel Mitchell stated in her report, while “he said, she said” cases are difficult to prove, “this case is even weaker than that,” and “I do not think that a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the Committee.”

Take away the names. Take away the politics. Take away the gamesmanship. Take away celebrity influence. Strip this controversy down to its bare bones, and what you have left is an only recently made 36 year old allegation with zero concrete evidence by a woman who "has not offered a consistent account of when the alleged assault happened," and "has struggled to identify Judge Kavanaugh as the assailant by name" according to Rachel Mitchell.

MOTIVATION

When someone says, “she has nothing to gain from this,” they are lying to you. They may not have intended to, but they are. Ford currently has several gofundme.com accounts that have already racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars. She has become a hero of the left, and as we all know, anyone with something negative to say about Trump or his presidency gets a book deal. It’s true that she will be hated by many, but she stands to become a millionaire, and that comes hand-in-hand with the spotlight and the notoriety.

While her left wing leanings are not in and of themselves enough to condemn her accusations, it is worth taking into consideration that she is “a registered Democrat,” according to The Washington Post, and in addition to attending the Women’s March against Donald Trump, she has also donated to Democrats in recent years since 2014. Although I don’t discredit the Women’s March on name alone, they have stained their reputation by naming every Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee as a “Rape Apologist,” including Jeff Flake who caved to liberal activists, and demanded a supplementary FBI investigation before casting his “yes” vote in the committee. While they may have formulated out of good intentions, their reputation has been permanently tarnished.

GAMESMANSHIP

In addition to the obvious prevalent political gamesmanship, Ted Cruz eloquently stated during the Kavanaugh hearing, “The democrats on this committee engaged in a profoundly unfair process. The ranking member had these allegations on July 30th, and for sixty days, that was sixty days ago, the ranking member did not refer it to the FBI for an investigation, the ranking member did not refer it to the full committee for an investigation…this committee could have investigated those claims in a confidential way that respected Dr. Ford’s privacy.”

The Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee wanted a hearing. They got it. It was first too soon, and then it was not enough. They then demanded an FBI investigation. They got it, and now it is too narrow in scope. If they really cared about the truth, or Christine Blasey Ford, and her requested privacy, they would have come forward with these serious allegations when the got them. But the sad truth is the Senate Democrats in the Judiciary Committee never cared about Christine Blasey Ford. They simply wanted to use her to their advantage, and use her they did.

CONCLUSION

In addition to the fundamental absence of any corroboration of these salacious allegations, all of the actual evidence points to be Brett Kavanaugh being be stand up guy. Even self-proclaimed liberal, democrat feminist, Lisa Blatt, who thinks the treatment of Merrick Garland “was a disgrace,” is able to admit that “sometimes a superstar is just a superstar.” Couple that with the fact that Judge Brett Kavanaugh is the “most vetted Supreme Court nominee in history” as local radio legend Michael Berry points out, our representatives in the Senate would be doing us a disservice by proceeding any way other than with a swift confirmation.
